Feeding The Birds

At this time of the year I like to feed the birds a little bit extra along with the nuts, bird seed and peanuts in their shells for the bigger birds. (i.e. Magpies, Wood pecker and Jays) that The Doc already puts out on a daily  basis.  So once the oven has been turned off  of an evening I place 200g of lard to melt in a dish in the oven and then mix in a good quantity of porridge oats, dried fruits, crusts and any left over sauces from the meal of the day and leave it by the back door for The doc to collect on his way out of a morning.
Until this morning that is.
The conversation went like this with The Doc asking
"Did you forget to do the birds bowl for them last night then?"
"No I left it by the backdoor as normal."

"Well it's empty " came back  the reply.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
L'th just you come out from hiding up the side of the tumble drier this minute.
"Did you eat the bird food?"

Noooooooooo.............

?????????????????????

Well maybe just  a little.

I'm sending off a report to Santa forthwith.

Hi Mrs A,
oh Santa is not going to be pleased that he deprived those poor birds.
I think L'th is in for the naughty step from Santa and it's only day 9.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L. x

Oh dear! Valery, L'th is such a naughty elf, but perhaps he was hungry, but now the poor birds are, I wonder what tomorrow's mischief will be, Kate x

Oh your poor birds. Still it sounds as though they are normally thoroughly spoilt . Mine will be migrating when they hear as they'll think they've been cheated, only getting fat balls and seeds. x

You really must feed those Elves

Oh, I suspected that the two Elves were sooooo hungry! But I didn't thought that they could eat birds food, too! Poor birdies, no food today for them!

So now not only do you have distressed cat and mice - you have upset birds! L'th seems like a lot more of a problem than Elf Boss - unless he is shifting the blame! Although in this case, the evidence is there around the mouth! And we aren't even half way through the month yet!

Poor birds, L'th on the other hand must be fit to burst having eaten a whole bowl of bird food.

Those pesky elves must come from the same place as human children cuz human children always say no, too, when the proof is written all over their faces! Too cute to stay mad at for long!! Hugs, Darnell
