I really should have known better but he was sitting quietly in the lounge reading nicely so I went upstairs and set the new mini sewing machine up to stitch a card. Nipped downstairs to make a cuppa before I started and within 5 minutes this is what I found on my return.
Now lets just get this straight again. This is MY SEWING machine. It is not and has not been made on the small size for Elves to use!!
And books are for reading not using as improvised ladders.
"You haven't touched the tension button have you Little L'th?"
"Nnooooooooo."
"Erm which button is it?"

So hours later having sorted out the tension I eventually got the card made below. I had already painted the image which is a stamp by Nellie Snellen 'Snowy House -2' using my Caran D'Ache watercolour paints. Once it was dry I embossed the sentiment by Studio Light with silver embossing powder and once that was completely dry, painted on the silver stickles glue using a fine paint brush.
not showing up here but it does IRL. Sewed two rows of stitching round the edges to give a home spun look to the painting and roughed the edges of the watercolour card with my TH edger. Gave the same treatment to a larger piece of red cardstock and then mounted onto more water colour cardstock made into a card base.

Lovely straight stitching Little L'th. What are you making with your stitched red piece?
What were you thinking leaving an elf sized machine unattended with Little L'th around? Very creative thinking to use the books - maybe he can read them later?
I like the distressed look to your card Mrs A. It is a gorgeous image too.
You know you cannot leave Little L'th alone, not just for 5 minutes. I told Harrie about it and he is laughing.
Your card is beautiful! Great coloring and I love the stitching.

Hi Mrs A your card is stunning. That little elf is very naughty. He does look rather uncomfortable that is not a good position for his back. Have a great weekend. Take care. Hugs Jackie
Darn L'th stitches a straight line better than me.....
Great card Mrs A! xx
You've created a beautiful card Mrs A despite that Little L'th mucking about with your sewing machine! To be fair it IS a good size for him, he probably thought it was early Christmas gift....
xx
He's a real rascal, isn't he?! He's going to get caught under then needle if he's not careful. You'll need eyes in the back of your head to keep up with him!
Your card is gorgeous and I love the stitching! I'm seeing stitching everywhere lately - it's so pretty!
Oh no, L'th should NOT be sewing. Little fingers and all that. I'm glad he let you sew though because that card is awesome. I love the image and the stitching. The rough edges are perfect for the image of the log cabin.
Yup, can't leave L'th ALONE at all....he know it when your not around he is going to be naughty...
Great looking card I like the winter scene.....tfs
Oh no, what will he be getting up to next I wonder. Beautiful card and super stitching xx
Lol don’t believe a word that comes from the elf’s mouth he’s definitely been up to no good and taking advantage of your sewing machine l love your card and the machine stitching and th3 distressed edges too enjoy your day and lock ๐ up that naughty elf ๐ x
What a hoot Valery, you just couldn't be up to him, he is really quite a rascal, but awfully cute.
Love your card, it's a gorgeous image and beautifully coloured. I do like the stitching around it making the frame, Beautiful card altogether, Kate x
Bless him, he must be very stronge to have carried those heavy looking books, he deserve an award for that alone.
Great card too, lovely image and colours.

Great card and image-beautiful stitching --

Obviously you can't leave L'th alone for even a minute before he's up to something. Still, the size of that machine was too perfect for him. That reminds me, I think I have a small size machine for cards. Love the look of stitching and yours is beautiful. I don't think I've ever done one yet. xxD
Love so much your stitched card and the distressed edges are perfect to match the stitching!
L'th seems less mischievous this year, perhaps he has grown and will become your helper later :D
Hugs and take care of your new machine... tonight sleep with an eyes opened! :D
Well I don't blame Little L'th for thinking this sewing machine is perfectly elf-sized because he looks so at home with it! Looks like he's go the hang of sewing that red piece, but too bad he fooled with the tension in the meantime, ugh. I'm glad that you got it all squared away though, because your finished card is just lovely. I've only sewn on a few cards because I use my main machine, which means I have to switch needles so as not to ruin my one for fabric sewing.
Lovely home spun card Valerie, looks like little L'th would love some lessons from you :) xxx
Just perfect for the Challenge! Great project! Fabulous that you have shared this with us here at Colour Crazy. Good luck and we hope you will come back again! Jackie DT Member xxx

Oh, so sweet! Such a cute tale (so busted!) and a beautiful card! Love the stitching, and most especially the lovely wintry scene - such pretty colors for your snug little cabin! Thanks so much for playing at Sparkles!
Snigger - and lovely results if I might whisper. Love Christmas scenes and the sewing is such a rustic touch as well!
Hugs

Wonderful stitching. Your Elf is a great sewer.
Sad to say but Little L'th is probably better at using the sewing machine than I am these days. With a new little one it seems like I haven't had a chance to sew in months and months! You should send him over to my house because I have a lot of projects piled up!
Thank you for joining in at the Alphabet Challenge with this beautifully coloured and stitched card, as for the elf you could teach him how to sew he might be a help
Love your beautiful scenic Christmas card

That's a beautiful card, against the odds! I like all the edges. I think you need a lock on your craft room door, the little sewing machine does look very tempting.
