Whatever the Weather

I just wish the British weather would make up its mind.  Yesterday it rained almost all day Today is sunny but very cold  and the heating can't decide whether it should be on or off.  I have been meaning to make this card for a while as the bits were out on my desk. ready to go.

The image is this month's freebie from Pattie's Creations and as soon as I saw it I knew I had just the paper in my stash to go with it.  The paper is another freebie from Making Cards Jul 2013 'Up in the Air'. Coloured using my promarkers and a silver gel pen.  The sentiment was created in word and printed out.  I mounted the image onto thick card stock and distressed round the edges . Used some more of the design paper for the inside of the card which you can just see below.

Standing Pop Up

Another challenge has started over on the Butterfly blog
You can  find the instructions as usual over on the butterfly blog under the card shapes  header.
These are my cards for your inspiration.  Made in two different sizes.

First Card.

Using from the Butterfly wheel:
Standing Pop Up card/Stripes/Butterfly/Sea Green/Salmon/ Sky Blue.

The Butterfly design paper is by The Works and also the stripe one. Butterfly stamp is by Uniko 'English Country Garden Butterflies' which comes with matching die cuts.  Sentiment is by Kaisercraft, one of my favourites to use. I stamped onto white card and placed behind the salmon die cut frame that was in my stash from a previous project. Below is  showing how the card stands up for display and it will fold flat for
posting. The tutorial shows how it works.

Evie

Found another card in my files from last year not blogged. This was for our Granddaughter. Nearly time to send the next one for this year so best show now.
It is a hidden tab/message card.
Two things our granddaughter loves is the colour pink and cake. Lots of it!!  The digi image is by Digi Stamps 4 Joy called ' Rose border with girl.' Coloured with a mix of my promarker and graph'It pens.
If you pull the tab on the front of the card the panel opens to reveal the message inside. The papers are by Alison Butler, very old magazine freebies. I hand printed the wording.
The card then opens normally for your greeting . The name was cut  out using  Memory Keepers Word
Punch Board. The letters on the front of the card are the negative fall outs from the strip used inside shown below.
Finally I made a matching envelope and used the remaining cake paper to decorate with.

Easter Bunnie Gnome

I have been busy making this Easter Bunnie Gnome for my daughter to take into work as they were having an Easter Egg hunt. I saw  this Scandinavian Sweeties Gnome pattern  on YouTube and just had to buy it to make her The design is by Sarah at Ruffles and Rain Boots . Her ears and hat are wired so are moveable.

Bunnie took me no time to make (just a day)  but having finished her all in white she didn't look quite right to me so I changed her gnome hat to being pink. Then the fun began with the egg.  Sometimes the obvious solution is not the  first one that  springs to mind . I didn't have any plastic egg shapes to use  so I thought  ok lets make one from  cutting up an egg carton and using two of the egg shapes upturned and then sticking a large round bead on top. Nope, it looked ridiculous so onto plan B. Use just  one of the egg shapes and stuff it with  filling to make the dome shape securing said stuffing with tape. One sticky mess later the obvious finally  kicked in. Why not use a real egg so off to the fridge I went.
Now how  to get the egg out without destroying the shell. Found a skewer in the cutlery drawer and oh so carefully made a hole in the base of the egg and then even more carefully enlarged the hole with very fine nail scissors. Would that egg come out of its shell? No!  It liked it in there but after poking with the skewer I did eventually manage to  extract it. Gave the inside a good wash with warm soapy water dried it and then stuffed with more of the filling I had used in Bunnie. Sealed the bottom and then proceeded to tear a sheet of ditsy flower patterned paper into minute pieces and decoupaged the egg using pva glue. 5hrs later mission accomplished and  did I waste the egg? Heck no, The Doc got a bread and butter pudding made with it for his supper.

Lastly a picture of her sweet derriere .

Tell it to The Bees.

Go tell the Bees it's Spring time.  We have seen our first very large bee in the garden this past week along with 4 different species of Butterfly. This card was inspired by me finding the piece of  inked card( I used for the background) in my stash when looking for yellow cardstock for a different project. I think it was left over from a workshop I did years ago (pre Covid at least) and brought home having not used it at the time.
When I re - found it I immediately thought of bees and honeycomb. I also just happened to have  a bee stamp in my stash of never used stamps  so out they both came. The stamp set is  by Craft Consortium called 'Tell The Bees ' and comes with A Queen bee with a crown, 3 different  Worker bees, some honeycomb and the bee hives.  I used one of the worker bees and stamped him out 3 times plus the bee hives. Coloured using my Graph'it marker pens and my wink of stella brush then fussy cut out.  I also used a Rectangle stitch hole die frame by Crafts-Too PCD98 and hexagon dies by Julie Hickey.  I cut a few small hexagon shapes from the inked backkground  and then backed with yellow cardstock.I die cut a couple of larger hexagon shapes for the sentiment which was computer generated and then  printed out. Everything is raised up on 3D pads for dimension.   Picture below is a close up of one bee showing the wink of stella on the wings.  The bee we saw in the garden was not much smaller!
