Christmas Carols

Time for the girls in the Christmas card club to show our next makes.
Rita  chose the theme this time which was Christmas Carol.
Looking through my used Christmas card stash I came across this pretty wreath which had sheet music in the background. Can't see what the song is though!

Iv'e made another acetate fronted card.
I do like making these and they look classy.
I have used copper pearlesent card stock to create
the base card and gold stickers on the spine and acetate.

My second card to use my stash of stamps, digis, embossing folders, stencils does cheat a little
bit this time as I have used a christmas card front on it as well but it was required for the stamp
image that I have used namely my Penny Black 'Caroling Duck'!

I've used Acetate for the front of the card
and adhered the 3 kings onto the base card.

Now everyone sing along with  Mr Duck
We three kings of Orient Are.............
Hope you approve Rita of my tongue in cheek card.

Here Kitty!

I try and join in a card chain challenge every month which is hosted by Deborah in  America.
The april challenge was to use  any or all of the following:
A  colour swatch of orange/peach
A sketch to follow
Cats/friendship
A Penny black stamp/digi.

I managed to use 2 of the requirements. The colours and the cats/friendship theme.

The digi image is by Ladybug Crafts and is called Catflap-Magnum. I coloured the image using my promarkers and die cut using Spellbinders Majestic Elements Marvelous Squares. I used orange embroidery thread to stitch through the holes around the edge of the image. The footprint paper is my own design. I have had the paw stamp for a very long time well before stamping became fashionable.
I had previously used it on a card I made and showed last month.
I used to breed /show persians and I used the stamp on my stationery and pedigree forms.
I layered the card up with three different coloured orange/peach card stock.
I created the sentiment in  word and the square pearls were in my stash.
My card went to Jo 'Dotty Pudding' in the UK this time.

I used some more of my design paper on the inside along with another stitched die cut square.

Happy Motoring

It was The Doc's Birthday at the beginning of the month and this is the card I made for him.
The digi image is by  Becky's Place and comes pre coloured  as well as blank to colour yourself.
The image comes in Green and as The Doc loves that colour I have used that one.  (Don't want you thinking I'm a master at colouring. lol.) I bought it at the beginning of January and  had to put a note to myself on my craft Calendar to remind me where I had downloaded it to on the computer!
The design paper is a magazine freebie and is by  Emma Schonenberg. The dark green is vellum paper and I love using the Scotch Vellum tape for adhering it to other paper. You really can't see it at all. It is a bit peculiar to use though and looks/ works a bit like heat and bond on fabric except you don't use an iron on it. Sentiment is silver stickers from my stash.

Sophie

It was my good blogging friend  Margreet's Birthday a few monhs back  and this the card that I sent to her in the Netherlands.
I used up the last of the hand made paper that I had made at the craft  club I go to in the village. Backed onto bronze pearlescent card stock to make a tent fold card base.  The framework and embellishments are from a company called Yoosami  which had been in a £10 goody bag  from the last craft show I had been to. Then I went in search of an image to put inside the frame. Searching through my stash I found some images by Pink Gem that I had previously coloured up whilst on holiday 3 yrs ago and had then brought home and done nothing with.

This particular image is called Sophie and is coloured using Distress Marker pens. (I know this as they are the only pens I took on holiday with me and as I only had 8 of them  was quite restricted for colour.) Close up shown below. I added one of the buterflies with a gem in her hair to represent a bow.

Apertures with Apricot

The New Theme/ Colour
for my Butterfly Challenge is

Here is my inspiration for you.
1st up is a shaker card.

The  apricot flower design paper is by Aspire Crafts 'Sew Pretty'
I created the shaker element using die cuts by Crafts-Too
'Square Dies Scalloped Edge and acetate.
Burlap mini butterflies are by Papermania which I coloured
slightly using a apricot promarker and then  a swoosh
of Wink  of Stella followed by a sprinkle of Glamour dust.
They really do sparkle when the light hits them.
I used tiny beads for the shaker element
Sentiment is a silver sticker from my stash.

Ruby's Rainbow #129 Use a transparent  element.

My 2nd inspiration for you incorporates
decoupage into the aperture.

Here I have used a scalloped blank card as my base.
I used Sizzix Scallop Rectangle to cut an aperture
in the front of the card. I backed it with a trellis work
die cut that my lovely blogging friend  Greta sent me  in a recent
card swap.
I backed this with apricot card stock to cover the whole of the inside.
I adhered the decoupage element to the front of the trellis.
I have had these sheets of butterflies in my stash for years.
They are by 'Tbz-Kaart 'in Rotterdam.  Very glossy and are
slightly embossed. You do need to cut them out by hand
as they are not precut.  I layered the apricot butterfly using
several cut outs  and 3d foam pads in between each layer.

This challenge will run for 4 Weeks.
Please check back here on the 1st June
when KandA and I will be showing you
more inspirational cards.

More Recycling

Back  to show you some more inspiration for #54 Butterflies  + R is for Recycling an/or Ruby Red.
This paper was the insert to a Birthday card I had received a few years ago. I cut several elements out of the design and created the card below.

Backing papers are from my stash and I used Spellbinder Marvelous Squares and Deckled Rectangles
to die cut the various shapes for the card. Layered up and added pearls and a silver sentiment sticker.

This second card uses the covering from a box lid of stationery  (paper and envelopes long since used when it was the norm to write letters and thank you notes.) that I have kept for a very long time because I liked the picture.  Th box got used to hold other items in and got well worn from constant
use over the years so I decided to discard the box and just keep the top in my stash.

I've trimmed it down and die cut using Crafts-Too Square Scalloped Dies and picked a scalloped blank card for the base to match. Red card for the backing and red ribbon from my stash. Iused Britannia word dies to created the sentiment which was die cut 4 times and then glued and layered to create added height.

There is still time if your quick to play along in the challenge.

Snowy Trees.

Time for the girls in the Christmas card club to show our next makes.
Christine chose the theme this time which was Snowy Trees.
A quick riffle through my box of used christmas card fronts turned up this snowy tree scene
which had the added bonus of already having a sentiment added.

I trimmed down and used a fiskars corner punch for extra interest. Backed onto silver pearlescent cardstock and then onto a  sheet of silver holographic card stock.  Finally adhered to light blue cardstock to make the base card.  Premade navy bow and pearls from my stash completed the look.

I already had the following card in my never shown file as it was for a swap I did back in  January.
The theme was use stencils and winter
I made the base up using acetate for the front and sandwiched the embossed card in between.
The stencil is by Imagination Crafts which I coloured in with a grey promarker. The white  base card
had a fine grain effect on it so the grey showed up really well. backed onto navy pearlescent cardstock. Silver stickers were in my stash along with the blue sentiment tag. The sentiment was generated  in word and I used  Su's Modern labels punch to die cut out.  I used blue cardstock to make the rest of the base card with.

Two more cards for the pile  and still sticking to my resolution of making one card with a recycled christmas card and one using my stash of stamps. digis', die cuts and stencils.

Recycled with Ruby Red.

Managed to get back into my craft room  to make some inspiration pieces for my
#54 Butterflies + R is for Recycling with Ruby Red.

First piece is using a Pringles Pot. I forgot to take a photo of it before I started (but you all know what a Pringles pot looks like!) I did take a photo of it once I had cut it down and painted it red.  I also used some anti slip matting to cover.

I raided my stash for everything else and  went to town  with my trusty  glue gun! I used large wooden beads for the feet and smaller metal beads for the closure.  Butterrflies were made using Memory Box and Poppy Stamps  die cut matching butterflies.

I have had the clock /bird metal piece in my stash for at least 2yrs just waiting for the right time!

Inside of box which I covered with cream silk off cuts in my stash  at least 20yrs old.

Anniversary Cards

Firstly let me thank you for all your well wishes. This Flu virus has completely knocked the stuffing out of us. I have not been in my craft room now for nearly 3 weeks so I'm going  to have to rely heavily on cards that I have previously not shown. until I can get back  into the swing of making and creating again..  Mojo packed her bags and deserted like a rat leaving a sinking ship and not to be seen anytime again soon. Fortunately I do have quite a few swap items I have never shown.
These first two however are for family anniversary cards both made for the end of April. Both Daughter and Son decided to get married at the end of April.  We had brilliant sunshine for Fluffs day and hail and rain for little boys and they were only 4 days apart albeit  8 years in between.

First up is the card I  made for Fluff and SIL. Twleve years according to the World Wide Web is
Satin.

I used satin seam bindng to make the woven background and for the flower. The yellow check card base is one of the Doc's recycled custard tart boxes and the yellow card is also from a recycled packaging. I created the wording on the computer and the square gems were from my stash.  Numbers were black metalic that I also found in my stash.

Little boy and DIL celebrated 4 days later with 4 years that  is linen. I had this linen ribbon  that I had bought specially for the occasion. The beige card is linen look effect card. The green desigin paper  heart doily and rose wooden embellishment were from my stash along with the pearls. Woridng computer generated.

Will be around your blogs and back to commenting .s.a.p.

Poinsettias

I'm scheduling this for Sunday. I really thought that after 5 days of this flu bug that I would be feeling better but it is back with a vengeance today Saturday so I have gone back to bed.
I really didn't want to miss the Christmas Card Club challenge as the theme has been set my my lovely blogging pal Mary H.  Poinsettias.
I am unashamedly caseing  a card I have already shown reusing  an old Christmas card and  I found a card that I hadn't shown before using die cuts for the flowers so managing to keep to my resolution of one used card and one card made from my stash of stamps/dies/embossing folders.

The eagle eyed will see it says Birthday Wishes but this is because The Docs Aunt (who this card was for) is a Christmas Baby.
Short and sweet.
