Robin Red Breast.

I was sat here late  yesterday  thinking it's still August
so plenty of time for Rudolph Day!
Erm  actually no there isn't.
Panic ye not I thought.
Scrap the card idea I was going to make
and resort to my trusty pile of used Christmas cards.
I found  two card fronts that were
fairly similar in design
so in for a penny in for a pound.
I spent this morning spudling with  different
card bases and papers and then had a light bulb moment.
I have a love hate relationship with acetate.
At the moment I love it so out it came
and here are the two resulting cards.

I cut most of the front of the base cards away
and replaced with a sheet of acetate.
Old christmas card  fronts were trimmed down
and attached to the front of the cards.

The inside of each front acetate sheet was
neatened up (to hide the d.s tape) with
the same  design papers as back of card.
Berry paper by Kaiser craft.
Striped paper by Dovercraft.
Both from Christmas Collection  6"x 6" pads

By this time the Bigshot, Scor-pal and paper  trimmer
were on the floor and the christmas paper
strewn all on my desk  along with the book
showing the card design  I was orginally going to make.
As it was raining outside (so no gardening) and I still had
a bee in my bonnet about it I decided
to go ahead and revert to plan A. to make
An Iris folded Robin!!!!

I used  SU's Decorative Dots E.F. on the green card
after carefully cutting the robin shape out with a craft knife.
Design is from 460 Iris Folded Cards To Make
by Maruscha Gaasenbeek & Tine Beauveser.
I have no idea why the camera decided to go pink on me
as I took all the cards at the same time.
The robin has a nice domed quilted feel to it.
Sentiment is silver craft sticker.
Using the acetate for the front meant I could
hide all the strips of paper neatly away
behind the backing card.

Oh, WOW, Mrs. A! I am in love with your iris-folded robin. I hardly ever see iris folding any more and it is one of my true loves - one my the first techniques I learned when I started this hobby. Well done! I need to do some iris folding again! And your two cards with the acetate are brilliant to say the least! I love this idea! Awesome cards for Rudolph Day!
