No Internet.

Feeling totally frustrated here at present. Yet again we have no Internect. BT came out last week and fixed the phone line. There was a problem in the exchange, faulty wiring in the junction box outside our bay window(so technically BT's responsibility) and a faulty filter on the extension line inside the house. The BT man said he would file a report so the jury is out in who is going to pay. It took two goes whilst he was in the house to get the Internect back up . It has been running very slowly since then and finally fell over for good yesterday. We tried to reboot the system twice and each time it failed to reconnect up. We will now be ping ponged between BT. saying  nothing to do with them and our  network service provider telling us no fault found.
I have worked out  a way to transfer photos from my laptop onto a memory stick (I don't need the Internet for that part) and how to download onto my  small Lynx machine(which does  need an Internet connection ) so will try and take this  to the local library and use the free internet and see if I can post from there.
I just want an Internet like everyone else has and uses . I'm obiviously asking for the Moon!!

Oh I do feel for you ValeryAnn. When we were with BT we had nothing but problems. No problems with the line but internet was so slow we could barely use it! They said it was because we lived in the back of beyond and were at the very end of a country exchange line. We had them out so many times and every time they came out they obviously boosted it in the office and the speed increased somewhat, but as soon as they left we were back to square one. They said it would never ever improve. We eventually changed from BT and lo and behold we have a much faster broadband speed - using the BT line (obviously) and the same exchange, so how come a different supplier can do it, yet BT who are supposed to be so brilliant were absolute rubbish! While we were having problems John used to do the same as you and go to the library but a 20 mile round trip is not the answer when you are paying for a service. Good luck! Christine

I sympathise with your frustrations regarding a decent internet connection. We are with Sky and ours is sporadic, one day it's fine and dandy and the next I think we've gone back to dial up. We've had both Sky and BT engineers out who continually tell us it's working as intended, which I can say it's not. We've had numerous routers, extenders to no avail. Thing is we're limited to who we have because we have a really high bandwith usage, in fact it's so high BT won't even entertain the thought of us having their service lol. I've come to the conclusion, they are all rubbish and have no clue about the service they're supposed to be an expert in. Just thought I'd let you know you're not alone with feeling exasperated x

Hi Mrs A I am so sorry that you are having so much trouble with the internet. It is so good when it works and so frustrating when it doesn't. I do hope that it gets sorted out soon for you. Take care. Hugs Jackie

How frustrating! I imagine you are livid after all the run-around, but I suppose you are stuck between a rock and a hard place with only one internet provider in the area. There are 2 here (maybe more) but we stick to the same one and have had very good service whenever there is a problem. I have used the library myself on several occasions in the past when my computer broke down; it's a good service they provide, but I hope you can get your internet fixed for good!

Hi Mrs A,
oh my word you have had your fair share of Internet probs.
I do feel for you as we never know how much we rely on tech stuff till it isn't there.
Hope you are successful with you visit to the Library.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

So frustrating for you, we all depend so much on our internet nowadays. You've had years of dreadful service, anybody would think you were living on a remote island in the middle of the ocean, not in a civilised country an hour's journey from London! I hope it is sorted out for you soon.

Gosh what a pain Valery, it just sounds like they are giving you the runaround with it all. I've left BT, and have been with the Post Office for a few years now and it works fine, even although it's still a BT line. Perhaps you could change company, but I hope you get it sorted out soon and not have to pay anything, Kate x

Another thing ValeryAnn - we live in Oxfordshire and our telephone and Broadband supplier is in Yorkshire. Obviously they use another supplier for Broadband. That supplier is Plusnet who are actually part of BT!! How come we get a much better, faster service than BT themselves are willing to provide? At a much cheaper cost I hasten to add. C.

I totally understand your mood, Valery. I hate when I do not have Internet at home. Let's hope that they will fix it soon. Kisses, my dear friend.

Sorry for your connection but very well done on having transferred photos onto the memory stick. I make regular backups on a big memory disk to prevent problems (also because I have a lot of important documents for school). Haven't you tried using Drive, the cloud repository of Google? You can store there all you photos and documents, so you can work with them by any device in any place with an internet connection (e.g library), simply entering in your account. So you don't need any transfer by your computer to a memory stick...
Hugs

Hi Mrs A., I hope your connection improves sooner rather than later. When we had internet issues one technician told us the whole junction box needed rewiring for the area... yet to see it done... have a wonderful weekend... Megan
