Take Flight.

Firstly let me say a huge thankyou to everyone who sent thoughts and well wishes both here on my blog and also on Fluff's. I know that 'The Doc' has read all your messages. Your kindness has been over whelming and it is nice to know such lovely blogging friends.

Below is a Mini quilt swap that I did for the end of January. My partner Karin in Sweeden has received this now so I can show you all. The theme of the mini quilt (6" x 12") was 'Take Flight' to be interpereted how you liked but to be in colours that your partner would enjoy. A hot air balloon was the first thing that came into my mind and Karin told me that she liked the colours red and green in her quilts. The balloon has been padded with extra wadding to make it stand out slightly as it flies over the hills. Clouds and hills have been handstitched on to complete the effect.

This is the reverse with a large butterfly (my signature for this yr) appliqued to continue the Take Flight theme. The quilting was hand stitched from the back to the wadding only so that the two pictures had their own quilting design. I did butterflies in red and then random quilting inbetween to fill the gaps.
I was quite pleased with how this turned out and Karin loved it.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

A Spoonful of Sugar: Anything but a card.
Creative Belli: Use felt or fabric.
Fab 'n'Funky: Make your own embellishment ( Fluffy clouds and hot air balloon).
C.R.A.F.T. challenge: Not a card.
Pile it On: Childhood Dreams (to dream of going around the world in eighty days!)
One Stitch at a Time: Anything but square. (Oblong)

How lovely to have you back in blogland Mrs A. My thoughts are with you and the Doc, hope you are coping alright, keep busy, nothing like craft to take your mind off the bad things in life.
Wonderful baloon, (BUT) I don't know if you know that I am very scared of flying...and especially BALOONS....so I am not going to look at it for long!! LOL
Take care Debbiexx

Welcome home, Mrs A - it's lovely to see you. Lots of good wishes to you and The Doc - been thinking about you both.

Hope Fluff's move has gone ok, and that Sweet Cheeks has emerged from his packing box.

Love that beautiful balloon.

Hello Mrs. A., so wonderful to see you and Fluff up and around and I do hope the Doc is fairing well under the circumstances. Who could not love this wonderful family! I adore that hot air balloon mini quilt. How fantastic to quilt the reverse separately - see why I admire your sewing skills - they are so above many that I know and/or have seen (especially my own). The butterflies - my all time forever favorite no matter the time of year too - are gorgeous. I love the appliqued and stitched background - wow, how cute. I'm sure your swap partner is thrilled beyond her imagination!
