Snickerdoodle Bag

The theme this month over at Frosted Petunias February Artful Bag challenge is to take an object (any object) which clearly isn't a bag and make it into one whilst still retaining the original shape/concept.
My choice is this Snickerdoodle cardboard box which came to me courtesy of my lovely blogging friend Barbara at christmas time. Contents long been consumed (Thanks Barbara). I kept the box because of the straw weaving design and thought I could use it again.
Here you can see I have already cut the top down in preparation.

And this is the result.

I covered the front and back panels with cream cardstock and neatened round the top both inside and out with lavender satin ribbon. Attached organza lavender ribbon for the handles
and then went to town making up some flowers from yellow and mauve paper and some matching brads. I think they look rather like pansies.

I trimmed the back with my now customery butterfly made from mauve spotty paper.
All ready now for popping some Easter treats into.

Yep I know its not Easter yet but when I first thought of this idea it was going to be a Valentines bag with pink flowers and pink heart shaped cutouts but as it happened events at home delayed the project somewhat. As I was putting the pink stash away I spotted the cream card and mauve ribbons and this bag was born instead. ( You see thats why we need so much stash in order to accommodate such snitches and hiccups.)

Going to also entered into the following challenges.

The Creative Cottage: Fabulous florals.

Flutterby Wednesday: Anything goes theme along with a butterfly, angel or fairy.

Delightful challenge: Use your scraps. (Everything was from my stash).

All Sorts: Inspired by Nature (spring flowers and butterfly).

This is just gorgeous! I love how it morphed into something just beautiful! While teaching, all my life, I kept everything for "projects" or centers. I have just started to toss. Guess I will have to rethink and repurpose. Thanks for the inspiration Hugs XX

This is an adorable bag, Mrs. A. I love how you kept the weaved look of the original box. The butterfly is gorgeous! The flowers are delightful - so spring filled. I'll have to try this - a great way to recycle and use up the scrap stash we refuse to throw out. :-)

Hi Mrs. A, answering your question about my flowers. I cut them from card stock. Dampen them, colour the edges and then scrunch them - they smudge and bleed then. I've made flowers using mulberry paper and ordinary tissue paper..you need about 8 layers of tissue paper, mayby 6 of mulberry - but they make very pretty flowers. I'd love to see the carnation type flowers you've made. Hugs lin

Hiya, no problem on the blog award, i guessed you hadn't seen it! :D
Yes the bracelet has the same immitation pearl beads as on your necklace and earrings you just bought. I have marked them on my Facebook page as sold so as not to have another order so it will be on hold for you over the weekend. Am having today and tommorow off from selling due to family coming round, but am still busy making! Im going to be uploading a flickr album to my blog before Monday aswell if you want to come take a browse! :D

Oh yes, I agree - all eventualities must be catered for so that means, stash, stash and more stash! Loving your perfect pansies!

Hello Mrs A! How lovely that your little box gave you not 1 but 2 sweet treats. That shape is just screaming to be made into a bag. Your pretty flowers and mauve ribbon has me already thinking of Spring. Love the butterfly of course. Beautiful work! Thank you so much for playing along this month and also for going back and adding your January link. I'm so sorry the Linky wasn't very nice, it seems to not like me too much either when I link up to the Dress Challenge. Hope to see you back soon :)

What a lovely bag, you certainly did an incredible transformation of a cookie container! (kind of like a butterfly emerging!)

Beautiful, happy colors and I immediately thought of spring and pansies when I saw your flowers! So pretty, so delicate and lovely.
