Going Oriental.

It is Fluff''s  Godmother's Birthday today and as I know it has been received I can share it  with you. I rang the Godfather a few weeks ago to enquire on the favourite colour to be met by bemused silence. Finally after  an " Erm not quite sure about that" we  decided Turquoise would  possibly be a good bet.  ( Pleased to report the Godfather sporting a black eye has been adverted.)
I had it in my mind to do a card with a flower of some sort so an Oriental style card was born with a turquoise Chrysanthemum. The black/white silhouette design is from a Dover Publications CD-Rom and Book. I love the designs in there and am slowly getting through them (153 altogether). I printed onto beige cardstock and coloured the flowers and creases on the skirt using a turquoise promarker pen. The picture makes it look like I have adhered to a turquoise backing card but it is in fact just where I have created a box around the  design using the promarker and then trimming close up to the lines.  I made the flower from a combination of petals from The Spellbinders  Carnation Creations die and a Sizzix Embosslits die (654887). The corner was cut using Sizzix die 654470. I like  these corners. There are 4 different designs in the pack. The little blue squares are leftovers from cutting the corner. Waste not want not!! I then used an oriental style font on the computer for the wording.
Have used snippets of turquoise card stock for the flower / corner and snippets from snippets so am popping over to the playground at Pixies Crafty Workshop: #41
Also the following challenges:
Make it Monday Party: Always Anything goes.
Craft Mania: Happy Birthday.
By the Cute & Girly: Birthday challenge.
Whoopsiedaisy Challenge: Flowers Galore.
Fan 'N' Funky: No patterned paper.
Totally Gorjuss: anything goes.

i do love those colours together, really striking and unusual. Thank you for your visit today. I have to say that not only did Hobby Art not ask questions but they also gave the explanation of what had gone wrong with a full apology. Hopefully the replacement stamps will arrive tomorrow. Such service deserves praise and further purchases. Have a good week. xx Maggie

I love oriental themed items. I once had an oriental dining room - black and soft pink with cherry blossoms, shoji lamps and china oriental ladies. I wonder what happened to them. A lovely card, Mrs. A! Perfect lettering choice too! Hugs, Lesley
