Doctor's Orders.

I have been for my second session today with the Osteopath.

I have been pummelled , stretched and twisted

and under strict instructions to do no gardening or bending!

What's a girl to do but obey the Doctor.

The past week has seen me holed up in the craft pod

with a stinky cold and a bad back so I have been

catching up on everyone blogs

(well as much as blogger lets me  as he keeps hiding

my Readers lists and stopping me from following new peeps.)

 

This is a card I made from the left overs from

2 Christmas cards I made and showed last week.

The left over  part  of the aperture I cut on card No 1.

and some of the  little bits of fretwork from card No 2.

I matted onto red and then yellow card

and then onto grey card stock for the base card.

The background was made  using the Faux Pearl Technique

as explained in the original card post.

I spent ages playing around with the off cuts

and finally came up with this design

which I thought looked a bit 'Celtic'.

Looking at it now I see loads of crabs.

All the bits were stuck down individually

 using a paint brush and pva glue.

I know !  I'm a glutten for punishment.

I used some more bits up on another card

which I will post separately.

These are what was left over

I see loads of Reindeers antlers,

a couple of £ signs

and don't those bottom 2 look like

or Egyptian Sphinx!!

Ok, ok . I 'll just keep taking the pills.

Neon Lights.

The challenge over at Merry Monday

is Neon Colours.

I couldn't think of a darn thing to use  for this

so was going to pass up on it.

Then I saw my pal Di had commented that she had

the same reservations and was going to resort to

rushing out and buying some post it notes in neon colours.

Just as I was reading this I glanced at my desk and lo and behold

what did I spy

Yes Miss Di your a life saviour!

Di even gave me some ideas too.

As the strips were only thin I pulled out my miniature punches

to see if anything fitted.

I found tiny Christmas trees and leaves.

Decided to go with the leaf punch and create a wreath.

I had a Christmas sentiment to use by Papermania

and whilst having a rummage in the ink pad drawer found a

stamp pad I had bought ages ago under the guise of

'That will come in handy one day'

Well todays THE DAY!

Also found at the bottom of a pile of stash some

bright purple and pink cardboard packaging I had also saved

for that rainy day

Well it RAINED TODAY!

So many hours later

here is my Neon Christmas Card.

I used a white card blank which I layered up

with purple and then pink cardboard

and finally white card stock.

Loads of leaves punched to make the wreath.

Ribbon and gems from my stash.

Still haven't repurposed the Whisky bottle!

 

 

 

 

Beginning with P.

This is not what I had intended to do today.

I was meant to be repurposing a Whisky bottle! 

I got side tracked reading other blogs.

2 had posts on the Faux Pearl Technique

which got me thinking if I had any suitable

paints I could use which would give me  the same effect.

A quick rummage and I came across my stash

of Silkies  by Imagination Crafts.

Says on the pot pearlescent paints

so that was good enough for me!

 

You can't really see the sheen from this photo

but it is like mirror glass.

This is the piece I cut from the centre

of the glossy card stock I used.

(Saved for another day!)

Whilst playing around with the card

I happened to put it down on an old card front

which was on my desk waiting to be used.

I thought the two went together  well.

 

The card front is a sheet of very very thin

acetate with the picture embedded in it.

I trimmed the sentiment from the top.

 

The rest of the picture I attached behind

the aperture  and that's when disaster struck.

The acetate being so thin split as I was sticking it down.

Anyone seeing a crack appear on the windscreen or

(if your old enough to remember)

horror of horrors a snag in your stocking run

you will appreciate the despair I felt!

Even though I quickly applied ds tape

to the split the damage was done.

So what to do? Well the little off cuts

from the die cut were still on my desk

and another quick rummage found

some ribbon ivy leaves and tiny pearls

A trail of flowers and Ivy now covers the split up.

Phew!!

The sentiment was matted onto grey pearlised card

and attached to the front.

The whole card was attached to a sheet of grey

SU card stock folded to make a card base.

Which brings me in a round about way

to Hazel's challenge to use something

beginning with P.

My first thought being Post box

which is why the card was on  my desk.

I realise I have another P here too.

This is a card  I made for a swap.

It had to incorporate a Tag/Die cut/Lace.

This has gone to Australia.

 

The design paper was a freebie from a magazine.

Flowers were from Poundland.

Stickeroos are from Penny Black 'Sun-kissed' sheet.

I made this for Sweet Cheeks and as he is nearly 6yrs

thought I had better get a move on and show !

Colured in using Graph'it markers/gold outline pen.

Background coloured using pearlescent chalks.

Circles cut using dies by Xcut and Sizzix.

Sentiment by Britannia word dies.

Carol Singers

Another fortnight has flown past

and time again for the Christmas Card Club .

The theme was chosen by Sue P. and is

Carol Singers.

Was really pleased when I saw this choice

as I have had this decoupage set in my stash for yrs.

No make on the sheet just says Line 501 which doesn't offer any clues.

I matted green mirror card to the base card.

The Tonic die cut is from their Chic Set.

I love the cut out fret work design.

All those little cut outs though  are safely stored

 in a pot to use at a later date.

What?

You didn't think I was going to throw them did you!!

I used red card stock to match the decoupage colour.

A side view image to show the decoupage layers

set up on 3d  sticky pads on each tier.

Lightly coated with glitter in the same  colours

 to match their outfits.

Do Me a Favour.

Take some empty  kitchen/toilet towel rolls
to make favour boxes.

Cut down to the size you need.

I have made mine approx. 6" long.

My roll was pretty much scrunched up each end

so I only managed to cut 1 from the large tube.
Fold the tube flat and use a bone folder to crease.
Using a round nesting die to fit I scoured round
a semi circle approx. 1" either end on both sides.
I used the scoring tool from by Hougie board.
Bend the ends in to make the closure.
I painted my box  using  a tester pot paint
in Tuscan Terracotta.
Same box but 3 very different looks.
All the Butterflies are by Dufex.

Box 1 using scraps of ribbon and lace

with a  lable by Studio Light from their Vintage line.

Stamped with a sentiment by Kanban  using

D.I. in Walnut Stain.

A distinctly  shabby chic look.

Box 2 using a Britannia Word die

and beige/brown twine for a more CAS look.

Suitable maybe for a Male.

Box 3 using Organza brown ribbon  and layering

the Kanban stamp up on beige and brown card.

Stamped using Distress Ink as above. 

Simple to make and easy to decorate.
