Poinsettia Sunburst

Why oh why do I have these brilliant ideas  that do not take into account the fundamental flaw of if it can go wrong it does!!
I actually started this card with plenty of  time to enter into the current Rudolph Challenge which is about to now finish if I do not get my skates on. As weather has been so nice I have been making the card outside on a small fold down table that I can easily move around the garden to follow the shade.
Had in my mind to make a sunburst design card so selected the needed papers and spent an afternoon rustling up 4 different pattern designs and then put to one side to continue finishing off with an embellishment and sentiment.
Decided that the one for the challenge would have a poinsettia on it and found my John Next Door stamp and matching die set and having stamped and die cut inside as didn't want to lug my big shot downstairs and out into the garden I then took the flower parts outside to adhere to the card base.
Cue the sudden east wind that gusted the said shapes into the air and deposited onto the gravel around the table. A mad scrabble ensued to pick up before another gust took hold. I did have 6 petals but could only now find five and then spent  ages hunting for the last petal which should have shown up  quite clearly. Couldn't find it anywhere and as I had put everything  away up stairs I finally gave up looking and finished the card with only 5 petal layers..

Another  round up of flowers in bloom in the garden.

Pink Peony that opened up this morning by the front door.
Just a selection of a few of the pots  in the side garden.
There is a poinsettia lurking in there somewhere!!
And lastly the red hot pokers in the back garden looking erm  Rather  Hot. The Doc counted 23 heads and I spotted one extra  tiny one just beginning to poke its way up.  A record number this year.

Stay Safe and well  and away from crowds. I am quite happy pottering around in the garden and in no hurry to stick my head up over the parapet even if rules are being relaxed as from Monday.

The papers are so pretty and I love the sunburst as a background for the dimensional poinsettia! Beautiful flower pics! What a fabulous idea to group them in pots! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely christmas creation with us at the Rudolph Days Challenge.

Oh dear Mrs A, I think they call that sods law... it'll turn up as plain as day in a few days, either way your 5 petal poinsettia is very pretty. I like the sunburst effect made from patterned paper. Gosh, that baby pink peony is sooo gorgeous, take care x

I would never have guessed that there was a missing petal. Your finished flower looks so beautiful! What a wonderful way to make cards, in the garden chasing the shade. I like the sound of that!

Your garden must be sunnier than mine as my peonies have been budded for quite some time, but are not open yet. I can not wait as I usually treat myself to a cutting a couple blooms for the house.

I LOVE your red hot pokers. Have not planted those yet at this house and we have been here 5 years now. I have had them at the last house, just never seem to find the bulbs at the right time. Yours are superb!

Thanks for taking part in the May Rudolph Days Challenge.

A beautiful card Mrs A , wonderful design and a stunning poinsettia- would never have noticed that it has a missing petal! Has been too breezy here to craft outside for a few days but much less windy today so that's where I'll be later!
Your flowers are looking gorgeous- the pink peony is stunning. Had to cut some of mine this morning, the blooms are so heavy the strong breeze broke some stems. They look lovely in a vase though and still loads more on the shrub!

It sure didn't hurt that card to be short one petal. It looks lovely. Your garden is just stunning and so restful just looking at the flowers. I've never seen red hot pokers before, so this is new to me.

Hi Valery, I'm just picturing you chasing the paper petals, just typical. But all worth it as our card is stunning and not diminished by your gorgeous bloom having only five petals. Love the sunray of beautiful papers, it's a fabulous design, Kate x

Hi Mrs A

A really beautiful card .. .. I love this technique very much. Great choice of papers to combine.

I rarely get to craft in the garden. There always seems to be a bit of a breeze to cause havoc!

Your garden looks lovely. Lots of beautiful flowers.

Hope you are keeping OK.
