I promised a tutorial for the Little Boxes
that I had made from old Christmas cards.
Sorry it has taken so long but the decorating has been
quite disruptive. All finished now and just waiting
for the paint to have a chance to dry properly and then move
everything back again in situ at the Weekend.
On to the tutorial.
To make the instructions easy to see I have used white 160 gsm card
which I have cut to 6" square and used dark pencil to show my lines.
You would be using the reverse of a 6" x 6" Christmas card front.
1. Draw lines from corner to opposite corner.
2. Fold one point up to the centre mark and crease using a bone folder.
3. Fold up again to the centre mark and crease using the bone folder.
Unfold creases.
4. turn card 90 degrees and repeat steps 2 & 3.
5. Repeat for the other 2 corners.
Your card unfolded should look like this.
6. Turn card so that you have a diamond effect.
i.e a point top and bottom towards you.
Mark 4 X's as shown . i,e, 3 creases in from each side.
7. Cut down as far as X marks the spot!
Your card should now look like this.
8. Shade in all the small triangles and then cut
each one away.
9. Your card should now look like this.
Place a small strip of double sided tape on the 4 out side triangles.
10. Bull dog clip is not necessary at this stage
unless you are trying to hold a fold in place and a camera steady
at the same time!
Fold the2 short flaps into the centre.
Remove the sticky strip from the point.
11. Fold the point up and down over the flaps and adhere
to the inside of the box base.
Repeat on the opposite side.
12. Your card should now look like this.
13. Fold in the last 2 sides to complete your box lid.
Now make a base using plain white card and make your
dimensions just slightly smaller.
ie. For a 6" square box make the base 5.75" sqaure.
14. You now have a completed box which if you have used
an old Christmas card just needs a few embellishments
to finish and a small gift to pop inside.
Happy Crafting.
