Keukenhof.

This stamp is part of a set that I won last week from Pixies crafty workshop. I love the Tulip and knew that I had just the right colours in my pens. Because it is qutie a bold design I wanted to keep it clean and simple. I found deep orange card in my stash for the backing card and the sentiment is cut from a recylced card . The bow came from a pair of childs socks which I had bought at some point way  back to use on a previous project .(Tactor Boy and Football Man felt dolls).
I thought the check bow with the tulips gave rather a dutch feel to the card which in turn made me think of Keukenhof Gardens(renouned for its bulbs) nr Lisse, Holland. If you ever get a chance to visit the Netherlands in spring these gardens really are a site not to be miseed.
I have used distress mark pens in two shades of yellow and a red for the Tulips and two shades of green for the stalks and leaves. I have then added pearlescent chalks over the top . A Peach for the tulips which subtly changes the colour of the markers and gives a beautiful sheen and two  different shades of green.
Here is a close up of the flowers.

Very nice card Mrs A.
Lovely flowers and the colours are lovely.
Hey wondered if you had seen this technique before, I saw it at Anne's Wicked Designs blog and then a link to Splitcoast Stampers.
Go have a look and tell me what you think. I made two cards today using it and love it.

Wow, fabulous Mrs A!! At first I thought you'd decoupaged the tulip heads as they look really 3D - gorgeous colours too. Love the little ribbon bow too.

I used to love visiting the bulbfields when we lived in Germany (many years ago). What amazed me were the big garlands of flower heads you could buy to decorate your car for the trip home. It seemed quite sad but of course the bulbs were being grown on to multiply rather than for the flowers - which were glorious.

Here endeth today's history lesson :)

I forgot to say - how uncanny that Debbie (top comment) has been trying triple stamping too - ha, bet her results were straighter than mine!

Congrats on your win of the stamps, and you did a beautiful card. Great thought to add the chalks over the markers. (wouldn't have thought to try that! Thanks for the inspiration). Another idea on the sentiment upcycle. I'm really likin' all these upcycle ideas. Your orange mat was the perfect color with these beautiful tulips...the card really 'wowed' in the color department. Your tulips are gorgeous and look almost real. Great colouring girl!

They do look like a Delph bouquet with the addition of the blue gingham bow! Love the UPcycling!
