Here is the card I sent.
I coloured (using my promarkers) the image independent of the card base and then realised it went quite well with it as I had gone round the design using a gold gel pen and used shades of brown on the cat. Then I realised it would also fit the largest of my Xcut Hexagon dies which again worked perfectly with the base. Sorted!!
Now I just know your dying to know what jokes I enclosed so here are just 3 of them.
Remember they are for a nine yr old though.
Q. How does a Mole write to his friends?
A. By E-Mole.
Q. What did the Monkey say when he cut off his tail?
A. It won't be long now.
Q. How does a Mouse feel after it takes a shower?
A. Squeaky clean.

What a lovely idea to send these cards, the jokes are worthy of going into crackers!! Love them. I remember Daisy and Dandelion and have some stamps somewhere which haven't seen the light of day for years.

You've reminded me of my college days (900 miles from home) when I often found an envelope from my dad in my mailbox with a small check & a Marmaduke comic clipped out of our local paper. I love that you do this for him! I used to call my grands with a joke every week and they loved it so I know he likes the jokes and loves the cards you make especially for him. This card is so cute. I love his bright red patch!

ReplyDeleteThis post made me smile for so many reasons. First of all, I love that you are sending fun mail to your grandson, and that you are also including a joke or two (or three). I'm all grown up now but I still love going out to the mailbox to find some snail mail to enjoy. Secondly, I love that you are using up old stash for these cards, and that you also ended up finding the perfect use for your hexagon die. This is an adorable card and I just know he'll love it.
