Oh Deer.

It's been one of those days today. I managed to get a food shop delivery and it has put me all at sixes and sevens with what I had planned.  It's time again for the girls in the Christmas Card Club to show out next makes. Gwen chose the theme of Deer.  I had intended to make more than one card but this one took me ages so one it will have to be or I will never get this posted.
I have managed to kill two birds with one stone though and enter this into a challenge that requires you to use your long forgotten embossing folders. I am very guilty of that and was surprised to find just how many christmas themed folders I do in fact have!

This embossing folder is by Crafter's Companion and is called Reindeer Parade.  I embossed a sheet of craft card with it and trimmed slightly down as it is  6"x6" .Using a dauber and distress ink I coloured the raised parts and gently some of the background too and all the way round the edges.  The sentiment is a Britannia die which I die cut 5 times. The top one I laid over my clear embossing pad and pressed down slightly and then dipped into gold embossing powder and heat set.  The deer stamp which comes with the matching die cut  came as a freebie from a Practical Publishing magazine. I gave the Deer the same treatment by stamping with my clear embossing pad and then embossing with the gold.  I mounted him onto a plaque made from an oval die cut and raised everything  up using strips of oddments of cardstock layered up to give some height. That is the part that took all the time up cutting and adhering together but the pile of strips on my desk has gone down . Yay!

Entering into the following challenges:
Let's Squash It #2 Use a Christmas Embossing folder and a stamp.

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #42 Use a Christmas embossing folder and a stamp.
Pixies Crafty Workshop #391 Use up your snippets. (Brown cardstock for sentiment and deer plus strips that  you can't see raising embellishments up. )

Stay Safe and Well
Hugs

  21. Hi Mrs A,
now I am very guilty of pocessing embossing folders and not using them in fact I have that very same one.
I bought 4 new ones last year and to this day have only used the one so I must rectify that soon.
I love your wonderful card and the super design.
Love the heat embossing on the sentiment and the stag it looks like it's metal.
I too have that stag freebie and I am ashamed to say haven't used it yet.

  28. Hi Valery, you made me smile mentioning forgotten embossing folders. I went through my Christmas stash yesterday and hardly dare to admit the stuff that was there and I had completely forgotten I had them. What are we like! The embossing and the deer stamp certainly work well together. Thanks for the visit to mine, lovely comment. Happy creative week, Angela xXx

  33. I was sure I'd commented earlier, sigh. Love this card and the design and making is so right for the Squash It Challenge. Great colours as well.

I owe you an email - chasing my tail here - hence such a late comment via the Playground links. Still think I commented earlier though.

Hugs - and a woof from Dudley!
