Peddle On

It's The Doc's Birthday today and this is the card I made for him. Nearly gave myself a heart attack trying to remember where I had carefully put the bicycle die cut that my good blogging buddy Di had sent to me several months back after I saw here using it on her blog. Di very kindly die cut me a green one as that is the colour of his bike and it does match perfectly. Thanks Di.
Couldn't get any self raising flour but I did manage to purchase a Betty Crocker Rainbow Chip Party Cake Mix in my Sainsbury shop last week. After carefully sifting out the rainbow chips I made a cake up this morning which is now cooling down in the kitchen as we speak. I even found a pot of Apricot Jam in my larder so I can split the cake and use to sandwich together again. Simples.

  2. First of all - hugs from a distance and Birthday wishes to Keith! You can give him the hugs. So glad your card for him worked out so beautifully - LOVE the sentiment, perfect with that there die cut. And how very enterprising to sieve the rainbow chips out of your cake mix. Rather than go straight for sour dough bread, which is an art in itself to get right and you really do need a few extra items and tools to do it right, have you thought about making Stottie cakes or Milk Fadge - the fadge doesn't need yeast but does need SR flour. But you can always add baking powder to plain flour - that was the only option back in the day!

Enjoy the rest of the day!

    Hugs

  3. Ohhhhh.....that bike is fabulous!

    Great card, Mrs A.

You were very smart to sift out the bits from that cake mix. Luckily, I had flour in before all this and since I rarely bake anymore, I had lots to last.
I do not need the extra calories, and Al has diabetes...BUT

I must admit that I am baking more than usual and it is so handy when we can not get loaves of the bread at the stores that Al can eat.

  5. Happy Birthday to Mr A!! Great card.
Flour? What's that - not seen any since February. The whole nation have turned into Nigella domestic goddesses wannabees I think.
Sifting out the bits is ingenious....... but as the fridge asks me 'What do you want NOW' every time I open it, maybe me partaking of cake is not such a good idea!
    xx

  12. Happy belated birthday, Doc! I did giggle at the thought of you sifting out the rainbow chips, but apricot jam sounds a lot tastier so it must have been worth it.

  21. What a fun CAS birthday card for a guy. and so fun that you personalized to the color of his bike. I also love that sentiment! You are so clever to sift out the rainbow chips from the cake mix and I'll have to remember that trick. Not a fan of the rainbow chips at all, although my grandkids love them. Hope he had a happy birthday!

  22. Cute card! I'm sure Doc liked it. And cake. Yummy! We've kind of stopped having cake for birthdays. We just have to eat the whole thing. Too many calories. LOL! Hope all is well. Stay safe!
