Iv'e been inked.

I was recently blogging to a friend and bemoaning the fact that I didn't use Inks and Brushos and just relied on good old design papers when making cards. Then thinking about it I suddenly realised that I had gone to a workshop at the beginning of the year where we just had fun playing around with mixing the colours of oxide inks onto our craft mats and creating watercolour card backgrounds. We each had eight pieces of card to use and the idea was to make a light and a dark version of our chosen colours.
I wasn't very adventuresome with my colours as I'm  more a lover of a pastel palette. Some of the other girls came up with really striking and vibrant colour ways. We then made our swatches up into cards. I only managed to complete the one card, even though we were stamping direct onto the cardstock and using the matching die cuts.
Here is the one card that I did produce.
Stamp and dies  are by Julie Hickey from her Fancy Flutter-bies , Floral Fancies and Floral Fancies Die set. I used a score pal to create the back panel.  When I got it home I decided it needed a bit of  an 'oomph' so used pink stickles glue to add some glamour.

Here are the other colour swatches that I made at the same time and still waiting for me to have some more 'oomph' to complete into cards.

  6. I think that try new techniques is the most interesting part of crafting :) even if the result isn't good as one has thought before.
But your inked panels are fabulous and all so striking, and the card you created with the pink one is unique! Great idea adding some sparkling!
Waiting to see what you will make with the other panels!

  7. Beautiful card with your inky paper! The stamps are stunning and the colours gorgeous! The other panels you've made are beautiful too and will look wonderful made into cards when the time is right! There's something so satisfying about creating your own inky papers even though it is a lot messier than dsp!

  10. Oh these are so lovely! Cosmic Shimmer or similar might perk them up before stamping but they came out so well, and they class as snippets too. I agree with Brenda - no two are ever the same.Clever girl!

  22. Sheesh! I never for one moment thought you were copying, you daft mare! Fancy thinking that. With your bad shoulder I'm sure you're trying to schedule as and when you feel able. I mentioned adding a spritz of glimmer spray as it does add that certain something to the DI backgrounds. And you really would love working with alcohol inks and the TH sparkle card especially. It's messy so you need a coverall to wear plus disposable gloves but I've dome worse - at Coventry for example. You mentioned patterned paper. That seems to be quite out of fashion for the moment. It will come back for sure but if you check Jennifer McGuire's latest posts am sure she comes up with new ideas for using the stuff. I could wallpaper our house with what I have here.

  25. I'm back from my holiday visiting my sisters and trying to catch up! I sure love this card you made with your inky background, Anne! And I love your other smooched backgrounds just waiting to be used, especially that first one in aquas and greens and golds! If you don't get "moved" to use them any other way, they always make gorgeous word die cuts! Hugs, Darnell
