Treasure Trove.

The telephone line is still down. The new deadline for fixing it is by 5pm today but we shall see. The reason given for the delay was that there was a major problem in the village which had to be fixed first.  I 'm busy  trying to schedule as much of next week as possible as when they do arrive  the internet will probably go off and who knows when we will get that back. We have a lot of surface water around which doesn't help as all our lines are underground and tend to get waterlogged. The bottom of our garden is under about an inch of water. Still the frogs like it!

I recently attended a 1/2day workshop where we decorated a small wooden box.  The sizing in the pictures is deceptive as it only measures 90mm x 55mm x50mm but is the perfect size for housing  small items of everyday wear jewellery.

We first painted the box with white gesso which I then stained with with distress ink to age the box slightly.  The ivy leaf vine was die cut and then coloured with inks and inka gold. The butterflies were originally in a darker pink but when I got the box home I decided (as I had the same butterfly punch) to punch in a much paler colour of card stock. I also added the smaller roses to the top of the box and the pink gems to the butterflies and edges of the lid. I also added gold metallic  ink to the edges of the box to finish.

Here is the top of the box opened on it's hinges and showing the back side edge.
The back of the box closed.
Sideways view.  I had fun making and all of the class ended up with a very individually decorated box.

  9. So pretty. Looks like a treasure one would discover tucked away in an antique shop. You did a fab job creating the vintage patina, and I like the ivy decorating the piece. Adding the posies and butterflies makes it a perfect spring box to store your jewelry. TFS & good luck with the telephone lines! Hugs
