The little robin on this card looks just like the fat one we have visiting our garden at present.
In fact all the birds are well rounded and Mr Squirrel is a very happy chappy too. They are costing us an arm and a leg to keep up with the nuts and sunflower seeds they they are scoffing by the bucket load!! It's nice though to see all the varieties that pop in to visit us.
I'm trying out two items that I haven't used before on this card. Kraft paper and a Die-cut topper.The kraft paper is a Twistwrap made by Foundations craft unlimited and has the look of tree bark which I rather like. The topper is from a sheet called Robbins/Gold by Craft Creations Ltd. You get 6 assorted sized images and 9 smaller ones which you could use to make tags with. The lace has been in my stash for ever and a day (over more than 3 decades!) and the flower trims probably as long. They were originally attached to a loop of green ribbon each but it clashed ever so slightly with the green ribbon threaded through the lace so it had to go. Like wise the centres had a bead attached which I removed and replaced with the red pearls and the holly backing paper came from a friend in America. The sentiment is from an old, old Christmas card just waiting for the right time so I reckon I have made a well and truly vintage card.

Wow! I don't know what the time period to qualify for vintage is, but I think you must have met it. : ) Just proves that it is a good idea to hold onto good stuff, you may use it sometime. Such a cute little robin and he goes perfectly with your cute card. Thanks for playing with CSAYL.

Love this fat lil' bird. We have robins too, but none as pretty as this fella. Your paper twist really does look like bark. I'm not sure what paper twist is - exactly. But it's pretty! TFS.

ReplyDeleteMr Fixit here has made a cage thing, too complicated to explain, but it keeps the wood pigeons from gobbling all the seed from the ground feeder - and they're too clumsy to get onto the bird table :) Know what you mean about the cost of feeding them - but I guess they do give loads back in entertainment value :)

ReplyDeleteWe do still feed birds in our garden, but are constantly worried about the cats (who now go outside - yah!!!) catching them. So far the little bells on their collars seem to be alerting the birds - mind you, one of the first times they went out Lily arrived back with part of a pigeon wing - yuk! Now we have a blackbird nesting in some ivy along the side fence, and not very high up either - hopefully she is cunning and checks before going in and out.
Sorry to hear you've some ills in the family at the moment. Hopefully, the arrival of Spring like weather will make you all feel better.
I've not been doing that much on the crafting side of things lately, just things I committed to a while back.

Robins are such cute little birdies. We have flocks of sparrows pinching the chickens food, soon they will be so fat they wont be able to fly lol

I must confess to being shocked to hear of Kanban closing especially given how much I and many of my friends have spent on their products over the years! My heart went out to all those who lost their jobs so suddenly but I suspect they're not gone for good and will be revived in some form or another. Originally thought your robin topper was one of theirs until I read it is from Craft Creations. You really see the detailed texture of the paper in close up. Great recycling too with your lace, embellishments and sentiment all coming together beautifully. I keep threatening to have a good old clear out and get rid of stuff I've had for years but somehow never quite get round to it and you've convinced me not to bother now. You may have some explaining to do to my husband though lol.

ReplyDeleteMrs. A., I wish I had a garden like you so that I can sit and enjoy nature. I have a small patio to which I can sit - thinking of getting a bird feeder. Every now and again, there is a bird and mallard mate ducking around. I do so enjoy your craftiness. That robin is beautiful and so clever of you to find use for things in your stash.
