Holly & Ivy

Who fast forwarded the clocks again!!
It's time for the girls in the Christmas Card Club
to show their cards using the theme picked by Asha

The Holly And The Ivy.

A quick look through my used christmas cards
and I found this robin card with lots of Ivy.
Artists name is shown as Audrey North .
I decided to give it the tiled effect
so I first adhered the card front to cardboard
from a cereal box and then another layer
of the same for more strength.
I trimmed to 4" x 5 and marked out on the back
a grid of 1" squares  which I numbered 1 to 20
in order to know where they all went once cut!

I then marked a piece of red cardstock
into a 1.25" grid with my Scor-pal  to give
the appearance of the grouting between the tiles
and adhered them all into place.
So that was the ivy element  now I needed the Ivy
Remembered I had a Joanna Sheen Ivy die
and cut it out twice using white shimmer card.
I didn't have any green card stock the right shade
so once cut out I coloured in with a promarker.
A little glue from a glue stick  and a sprinkling
of glamour dust  gave the frosted look.
I used a Britania word die for the sentiment
which was cut  and coloured the same way.
The little bit of ivy was left over from
where i arranged it round the tiling .
It's the last Rudolph Day challenge for this yr
so am dashing off to Mo''s blog to enter .

Quadruple

I'm all at sixes and sevens this week
and late getting this posted.
Both our laptops had an overhaul this past weekend
and only mine rebooted successfully when we got them back home.
The Doc's is in bits at the moment and so is The Doc without it.
Using mine to do everything on.

I made this card for the second week of my
The challenge closes next Tuesday at 8pm
so still plenty of time left.
Here is my inspiration for you.

I  recently took an online class for different card folds
to find some new ideas and this is one of the shapes made.
Trifold Angled Front Card.
Very simple design to cut , the fiddly bit being all the layers.
I used a fairly thin sheet of yellow card for my base so layering it up
helped make the card more sturdy.
I found two sheets of coordinating design paper in my stash
that were also double sided with plain mottled on the reverse
so this gave me the 4 papers element . I also used 4 paper roses on the front.
Paper was a freebie from Simply Homemade magazine
called  ' Simply British''.
Flowers /lace from my stash.

1st fold opened showing the two patterned designs.
The card closure was made using SU Modern labels punch
which I cut twice and glued back to back with holes punched
either end with ribon threaded through and trimmed  to size.
Britania word die used to create 'Friend' cut twice
and layered up and glued in place.

Card fully opened showing the pink and yellow
matching papers.
The embossed centre piece was made using Sizzix 656982
Butterfly migration set EF.
Papers were cut using a combination of Xcut
'Ornate  Frame' and Parenthesis.

Butterfly element is the charm and the EF
used on the inside.

Frog and Oleander

Challenge time once again  over at

We are being sponsored by

The Theme is Anything  Goes as usual
and we would love  to see  your projects.

I chose this digi image to work with .
Frog and Oleander.

As I still had the acetate out from earlier
I decided to use it in front of the image
and this time to use silver stickers to decorate with
along with a silver sentiment.

Here is the completed card and its quite easy
to see the acetate with the stickers applied.
I also used the border sticker down the spine of the card.

With the acetate window open you
can see the inside panel with the image on it.
I have coloured with promarkers using the
Pointillism method of colouring with dots.
I used green and pink card stock to create the layers of the card.

An aerial view of the card showing the distinct layers.
The back sheet of the card which also in this case
doubles for the word insert to be written in .
The middle section with the image attached
and the front acetate sheet.

Big Bows

The theme this time  for my
Butterfly Challenge is

I decided to make a shaker card
using some sequins that had been sent to me in a swap.

The butterfly  paper is Me to You
'Especially For You'
I used it inside the shaker element  as well as on
the white scallop shaped base card.
The circle was cut with my Sizzix  scallop die.
sentiment is a silver sticker and the 4 pink Gems
were from my stash.
Pink card was left over snippets from previous makes.
The oversized bow I made from my new Bow Maker toy.
I was so surprised when it came off the prongs looking
"erm " like a bow that I just had to  use it regardless!!

The last Leaf.

I've just sent this card off for a swap.
It won't be getting there for a while and my partner
does not see my blog (I hope)
so thought I'd share it with you now.

The theme for the swap was make
a humourous card.
I searched through my stash of digi images
and came across this little chap.
A punch line sprang to mind
so here is the card I made.

Digi image is by Scribbles Designs called
'Leafy Brrr'.
I have coloured with promarkers using the Pointillism
method of  dots. I do like colouring this way.
Outlined parts of image with gold/silver gel pens.
Backing paper is a freebie from Making cards Magazine
called 'Owls and Trees'
Used two shades of design card to make the base and layer  up with.
Kept front of the card fairly simple.
Here is the punch line which I placed inside.

Post Me A Letter Do.

Time has sped round once more.
It is my turn to choose the theme
for the Christmas Club Girls.
I have gone with show a
Post Box on your project.
A quick delve into my used Christmas card stack
and I found 2 very suitable ones to reuse.

One very old style box showing the Initials GR
for King George VI  and the other the boxes we still use today
with ER on them for Queen Elizabeth II.

I'm back with my love/ hate addiction
for acetate on  the 1st card.
I used cream card for the base and layered up with
cream parchment paper for the wording to go on
then the card front and lastly the acetate.
I made the bow using my new bow maker gadget.
I took an aerial view below to show the layers.

I left the 2nd card pretty much as is.
I found the Artists name on  the back which is
Billy Stevenson and the picture is called
'Robin and Post Box'.
Used my Spellbinders Deckled Rectangles
to die cut the layers which I then layered
back up using successively deeper 3D sticky pads .

You can see the 3D effect below.
I used red card stock to create the base
and added  pearls  plus  a gold sticker
sentiment to complete.

I can't wait to see  what  the other girls will make of the theme.

Fly Away.

It's week 2 of my Butterfly challenge

Here is some more inspiration for you.

This is as CAS as it gets!

I adhered two small strips of washi tape onto a snippet of card
and then cut the banner shape to fit a blank card base.
Used 2 SU butterfly punches  to cut the apertures
and then the cut outs were raised up on 3D pads
and adhered above  the strip.
A few  pearls  for the trail and card is complete.
Simples!!!!

Cleopatra

A very different style card from me today.
This is for the new challenge over

We are being sponsored by
The theme is anything goes  as usual
and we would love to see your projects.
I chose this image called ' Cleopatra Portrait.'
As soon as I saw her I  knew I just had to colour her up.
I have used Promarkers, gold gel pen
and gold pearlised chalk.
I fussy cut the image out after colouring her.
The stamp is of Roman Columns and writing
but I can't for the life of me recall where I got it from
or the make other than is is unmounted red rubber.
I have layered up with orange and red card stock
on black as my base card.
The black panel has been embossed using
a Darice folder of Bulrushes.
Cleopatra is raised up with 3D pads.

The only way I could get a  half decent photo to show up
the embossed panel was to turn the card sideways
under my white desk light.

Birds of a Feather.

well I have to report that making
a clock this week on my blog
has not given me any more time!!
In fact 2 weeks seems to have spun round
in supper fast fashion as it's time
for us girls in the Christmas Card Club
to show you our makes.
Mary set the theme this week
which was to feature
A Cardinal or Christmas Bird.

This immediately conjured up  the idea
of Robins  so a quick delve into the  recycle bin
of used christmas card fronts and I found this cheery pair.

I trimmed the picture down to size and then layered
onto first cherry red and then gold pearlised cardstock.
I used a cream blank card for my base and adhered a
square of the cherry red card to it and then layered  the
robins on top. I then edged around the outside with strips
of gold foil to give the look of a picture frame.
The sentiment is a gold foil sticker given the same
treatment and adhered to front of card with 3D pads.
Below is the inside of the card
where I have used gold foil corners and more of the
edging srips.
Everything came from my stash.

As it would be a cardinal sin not to make
a card without a Cardinal on it
this one is just for you Mary!

The Cardinal is a pre coloured  dig image by Fred She Said
that I printed out onto cream parchment paper which
has a lovely texture to it like old writng paper.
I mounted this onto a piece of cereal box cardboard,
then layered up with the gold pearlised and cherry red cardstock
onto the cream blank card base. Some more gold sticker corners,
gold words and pearls from my stash complete the front.
Inside has the same treatment as the first card
layering up with more of the cream  parchment paper.
