MIL's Lace

It's the 2nd week of my Butterfly challenge
Here is some more inspiration for you.
1st up is a Side Stepper card.
Very easy to cut this shape using a ready made card blank.
You just need a pencil, ruler, sissors and Scor-pal.
Decide where you want your split to be and mark a line
just under  half the depth of the card using pencil and ruler.
This card was 4.25 so I made my line 2.00.
Cut with sissors then open card blank out flat
and score each side of the split using Scor-pal.
Finally fold on score lines to make the folds as shown.
Simples!
I decorated the side of card using lace I had
salvaged from MIL's . I love this piece
of lace so I use sparingly.
How and what I made the Butterflies
from will be revealed in a future post.
Sentiment is by Hero Arts.
Gems from my stash.

Entering into the following challenges:

Scor-pal #14 Spring and/or flowers. (We have an abundance of butterflies in our garden).

2nd  card
Again uses up some of MIL's Lace.
This was a snippet of cream lace which
I wrapped round a piece of card and matted
onto black card stock.
Card base was a ready made cream card
which I  then adhered the black card onto.
Butterfly die is by Cheery Lynn Designs DL 113AB
In order to attach to lace I drew round the butterfly
and cut a cream backing which I first glued to
the butterfly and then using d/s tape onto the lace.
Sentiment shape is made using SU punch
and gold sticker lettering.
Pearls from stash.

Wish Upon A Star

Time once again for the girls in
the Christmas Card club to show
their creations.
It was my turn to set the theme
and I have chosen 'Stars'.
I have had these stars in my
used Christmas card box for ages and they gave me the idea.
Card was originally going to be a Joy fold but as I
started to make I realised I would be covering up
a large portion of the stars so disbanded the  middle flap.
I'm calling this a Half Fold Card!
Stars on white background is the reverse side of a card.
Red and gold card is from my stash.
Sentiments are Outline stickers by Daisy and Dandelion.
Large star is from a card which I centred the die cut over
to get the star in the centre of the design.
Die is Spellbinders  Marvelous Squares.

Inside of card.

As I was about to put everything away I found
this star Embossing folder
by Crafts-too
so made another card.
Sentiment is a gold sticker by Docrafts.

Steel

Internet is still very adhoc.
The good news is that it has been escalated
to service level 3 and a ticket raised
so all will be sorted!!
That was 2 days ago!!!!!!
Thank goodness I  have
 enough  cards/projects in draft form
to keep me blogging for a while.

Whilst we wait here is
an Anniversary card to celebrate
11 yrs which is Steel.
I wanted to keep the card quite simple
and let the elements do the talking.

The backing paper is silver holographic
which I have been hoarding for years
and the trellis die is by Tonic from their Souree Set.
The entwined hearts
(created by cutting one and wrapping through the other)
came from my good blogging buddy Miss Di (xxx).
The numbers came from a sheet of silver card
but there is no name on it and I can't remember
where I purchased from .
Grey pearls from my stash.
Cream card is linen effect from The Works.

Butterflies with Lace.

It is new challenge time over at
my  Butterfly Challenge with the theme being
I have made another Trifold card
this time using Kanban Background  card
called English Riviera  Roses - Blue
for the base card shape.

The lace is very old at least 30yrs .
Butterflies are toppers from Studiolight.
I have used Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles
to mount on white and pink cardstock.

Sentiment is a stamp  by Woodware.
Sorry it is slightly out of focus. I am having to quickly
take photos and store on draft as and when
the internet is up and running  so always racing
against the clock and card has been sent so cannot retake.

Toadstools

This is my 3rd week as GDT for April
over at Crafting From The Heart.
I have chosen a digi called
Butterfly on a Toadstool
to work with .
Card shape is a variation of a
Tri fold card. This one is a lot larger
Than my previous ones.

I used my promarkers to color 3 of the image
and then cut and layered 2 up on top of the
original for a 3D effect.
Red papers were in my stash and the grey
flowered design is called hydrangeas by
Pink Petticoat from their
Isabelline collection.

Double Dutch Fold.

Making the most of my Internet
being up for first time in days to
quickly post this card.
The  Craft Club that I do swaps in
required us to include 10 embellishments in with
our January cards for our partners in turn to create
2 cards for the February swap using those embellishments.
This is the second selection that
I received from my Partner Merry.
The blue card is from my stash and was used to make the base card.
The pretty rose patterned card is the notelet that Merry enclosed along with the
embellishments  and I thought it much too pretty not to reuse.
As the pattern was the same on the back of the card I cut it down the middle
to use on each of the cards that I made .

I decided to make another new card shape.
This one is called a Double Dutch Fold.

I cut the printed acetate panel in half  and just
had enough to cut one piece in half again.

The flower petals , paper button and twine
decorated the front and I

the rose patterned card for  the inside.

I even made use of the little flower charm.
This card went to Mandy as part of the swap.

This is my 2nd week as GDT for April
over at Crafting From The Heart.
The sponsor this week is
Karleigh Sue Digis
and I have chosen to work
With this digi called Cuppa time.

to colour her in with and then my
Spellbinders Deckled Rectangles die
To cut the shape.
The flower design papers are a freebie from
Making Cards magazine
and called Pretty Pansies
from the Nancy Watt Collection.

design so use sparingly!

Vintage Christmas

OurInternet continues to be just
as troublesome with no rhyme, reason
or pattern that it follows. Downtime can be
different times each day so makes using it
very difficult.  If one of us sees the router change
from flashing orange to solid green we drop
whatever we are doing and get on line ASAP!
So if your reading  this we had the green light!!!

Time once again  for the ladies in the
Christmas Card   Club to show our
latest  challenge cards  which was set by the lovely Rachel.
# 8 Vintage.
I had this recycled card in my Christmas stash of reusables
just waiting for the right opportunity to come along.

Base card is matted with red card  then gold pearlescent card.
I trimmed the picture down and mated to more of he red card
Which in turn was adhered to the front of the card.
I used my Spellbinders  ' Marveloys Squares ' Die to cut
The 4 corners which I attached on top of the reused card
To make it look like a photo  in an album.
Tartan Washi  tape and gold ric rac along with gold snowflakes
completed the side panel.
Sentiment was an outline sticker
By Daisy & Dadeline from my stash.

Another new card shape for you.
This one is called a 6 Fold Card
and is my Inspiration for you with my
#28 Butterflies + M is for Music Notes
Challenge.
You can find the tutorial here by
Missisippimcgyver

This is the card folded up.
The butterfly pictures are from a miniature image book
of  flowers and butterflies by Crafty Individuals
which I have had in my stash for ages.
Flower design paper is by Debbimoore designs and came
free in a magazine.
The first 2 folds are the diagonals that are held shut with the Band.
Remove the band and the next 2 folds open up to show the inside.
I used cream textured card to cut my base with.
Music note paper is a freebie from
Sentiment is by Imagination crafts.
I used an SU punch to cut out.
I used lace to make frames around the music paper.
Lace and frilly  ribbon are odds from my stash and very old.

The last 2 folds open out to reveal the rest of the sentiment.
I used a  butterflies EF that came free
from Papercraft  Essentials magazine  on the folds.

The card fully open.

Open Centre Step Card.

Important  News.
I was asked by
Crafting From The Heart
to be their GDT for April.

Of course I said Yes!!
Here is my 1st card for  them using  an
image from this weeks Sponsor
Oak Pond Creations.

Another new card shape  tried.
Slightly different to a normal centre step card
in that the centre  is recessed instead of to the front.

I couldn't find a tutorial  for how I wanted to make it
so I just worked out my own folds
using a sheet of scrap paper.
Design papers used are called Sugar and Spice
from Making Cards magazine.
I used Spellbinders Tattered Blossoms
 to make the extra flowers
to match those in the digi  image.
Not quite the same but near enough .
Coloured using promarker , pearlised chalks
 and a gold gel pen.
Sentiment is a Britannia word die
and digi was die cut using Spellbinders
Marvellous Squares.

Thank you to the Crafting from the Heart Team
for having me on board this week
and looking forward
to being back with you next week.

Re purposed Cards.

Being the Mum of a very talented colourist
namely Faye (aka Fluff)
(you can see her work in Making Cards magazine)
has a  very distinct advantage.
Over the years The Doc and I
have amassed  a great many of Fluffs cards
and they have all been kept  to be admired and stroked
and then put back in the storage box.
Now this has always seemed not right to me
that only I get to see them .
A bit like those art collectors that buy up all
the nations treasures for their private collections
never to be again!
So I'm putting my little bit of the world to rights.

With Fluff's agreement I am taking the fronts of her cards
and remaking into cards to send to sick children.
I have found two charities on line which
give the details of children plus their siblings to send cards to.
So without further ado here are the first ones .

I have matched the colours up from the papers
with more papers from my stash
and remade Tilda into an Easel Card.

Tilda has gone  to live with  a girl
who loves all things girlie!

Whilst this one has gone to a little boy who loves
 Star Wars.

I took two of the colours from the stripy paper and matched
up from my stash for the inside.
The sentiment is a freebie from a magazine.

Thank you Faye for allowing me to reuse your cards.

Block Step Card.

My Internet connection had not improved.
In fact is is rapidly  disintegrating to morse code!
Further hampered by the fact that the help centre is in India.
I will say no more.
Have Been trying to post this since Wednesday.
Have finally managed to load the photos this morning
But now lost my connection so battling with
Predictive text on my iPad to finish.

It is week two of my Butterfly Challenge.
I have chosen another  new card shape
Block Step Card
 to showcase the theme
Butterlies  + C is for Corners.
I found lots of tutorials on YouTube for this card
all using the same method and instructions so
have not used a specific one to make mine as they
are all equally  as good as each other.
You only need a  piece of card  4.5 inches x 12 inches
and another piece 4 .5 inches x 1 inch to make the base card
so is very economical  plus folds flat for sending.

Again the most time consuming part was to cut the squares
from  design papers to layer up with. ( 15 squares needed)
I wanted to have a spring look to the card so raided
my yellow snippets stash of papers and sorted out
embellishments to compliment.
The embroidered roses
( front /back of card is made the same)
have been hoarded for at least 35 yrs  and
The lace 25 yrs  so well past their sell by date!
I used my Sizzix  corner die Architectural Accent # 4
to make the corners from a scrap of same yellow card.
Sentiment is a magazine freebie and my butterflies are
Die cut using Memory box
Isabella/ Pippi.

Card is totally free standing .

Another view showing the other side .
Butterflies were adhered with 3D pads
to give definition.
