Twisted Easel Card.

Iv'e re purposed a
Christmas Card that we had bought
a few years ago intending to send to
The Doc's Aunt and Uncle.
Sadly Uncle Len passed away
before we were able to give it to them.
I came across the card a few days ago
in my stash and this card shape
just lent itself perfectly for me to be able to remake.
I found an excellent tutorial by Christina Griffiths
which you can find here.
I salvaged as much of the card as possible
and was able to cut the sentiment down
to say  'To a special Aunt'.
I'm pleased with the resulting card.

Cutting it really fine for the Rudolph Challenge
but have been mega busy this week preparing
for the decorator to arrive and do the next room.
Didn't want to miss Scrappy Mo's 1st  month as the new host.

Magic Window Card.

Here is my next new card shape.
A Magic Window Card
to spotlight my current
Butterfly Challenge #23
Butterflies + V is for Valentine.

I found various tutorials /names for this
design of card and the one I liked the most
and have followed is by

The pink /white heart design paper is
Me to you  With love.
Embossing folder is Spellbinders Mystic (A) side.

Silver /Crystal heart and gems from my stash.
Oddments of red card stock in my snippets folder.
Words generated and printed on computer.

Here you can see the shutter mechanism
start to be revealed  as the card is opened.
(sorry camera decided to have a yellow hissy  fit )

Opened up a bit more to reveal the secret message.
'Love'

Now fully opened.
Message was a scrap of left over paper
which had been a magazine freebie.
Sizzix scallop circle die used to make the opening.
The cutout was then used on the front of the card to create the closure.
I loved making this card.
A bit fiddly to get the measurements deadly accurate
and the mechanism to open up as a whole  diamond
but the result is well worth it.
Small butterfly  is a tonic punch.
Larger one is a Woodware punch
as are both the heart punches.
Hope you can come on over and play.

Square Twister Card.

Card shape today is a
Square Twister card.
Design sheet is Popcorn Bear
from Crafterscompanion.
The date on sheet says 2012
so I have had in my stash for quite some time.
It came as a freebie with a craft magazine.
I cut all the individual squares out from the printed sheet
and glued to off cuts of white 160gsm card stock.
There were no instructions as such just a small picture of
what the finished picture should look like.
There were 8 pieces to layer up which was quite easy
as gluing to the card stock first made them more stable.

Close up of the finished twister.
I adhered this to navy pearlised card stock and then
used 3D pads to raise on the card base.
The sheet had a matching design paper of the little duck
which I matted onto a  square white card base
before attaching the image.
Navy bow and pearls from stash.

I used the remaining strip of design paper
to decorate the inside of the card
along with a bear outline sticker from my stash
and then adhered the instruction picture
on the inside of the  card too.

So that's my Granddaughters card done and dusted
and Card No. 6 in the pile for 2015.

A Pile of Boxes.

My next new shape.
Little Origami Boxes
made from old Christmas Cards!

At the local craft club which I go to
Jenny showed us how to make
an origami box from a 6" square used  Christmas card.
Of course once I got home I just had to make some more
and decorate the outside too.
I raided my snippets for embellishments.
Now I'm surrounded by little boxes!!

I made a few alterations to Jenny's design
and will do a tutorial next week on how to make  them.

A 6" card front will give you a finished box top of 2.25 "

The smaller your card square the smaller the box will be.
The one above with the red bell is 1.75 "

Just the right size to put a chocolate inside
or maybe a small present such as earings.

Shaker Easel Card.

I have created a Shaker Easel Card
as my inspiration piece for
the second week of

The butterfly paper making up the shaker
and base of the card is the left over piece from
the box card I made last week.
White/cream/green/purple sequins
all in my stash along with the scrap
of purple card stock.
I have had the large butterfly brad
in my stash for ages waiting for the right moment.
Purple polka dot  ribbon and pearls in stash too.

Shaker window made using  Xcut 'Ornate Frame'
I spuddled with the left over cut out insert
and managed  to make a smaller pattern up for the base.
Sentiment frame made using
Cheery Lynn B190  #2 die.
Sentiment created in word and matted
slightly of centre onto a purple frame
to give a shaddow effect.
Acetate used to create the window and contain the sequins.

Side View showing Easel  contstruction.
Below showing the base of the easel.
Design paper on base is a magazine freebie.

Football Mad.

Card shape today is
The only difference  I have made is
using a wrap for the closure
and using my own measurements .
I had the paper sorted but no card design
until  I saw  Pippa use it on her blog
for my Butterfly challenge and an idea was born.

We have a family friend with a Birthday this week
who is football mad so this paper in my stash
by  Maria Taylor was ideal .
I like this design of card as you can keep the inside
as a supirse  until opened up.

I decided to give  our friend  a Red Card.
Sentiments are Anita's Glitterations  Stickers.

Fold Out Card.

Another card shape.
This one is called a Fold Out Card. .
I found on You Tube by Alice Paperland.
An easy design to make but at the same time a classic.
I modified slightly on how I made it.
It is time again for the Christmas Card Club
To show their latest cards.
The theme for #2 was set by Christine
'The Real Reason For The Season.

I have this Woodware stamp set in my collection.
I love the simple lines on the images so like to keep plain.
This time I have highlighted the stars and the halo's
with just a rim of gold gel pen which to my mind is all the stamp needs.
Sentiment is by Dovecraft  'Tis The Season '.
Papers , ribbon and white card all from my snippets box.

Faux Tiling Card.

I have tried this technique before
so not technically a new shape card
but I have made the tiling using a different method.

is a challenge blog
I have only recently found and I particulary
wanted to play in their current theme.
They do not have many players which is a shame
as they have some lovely ideas and I know
how much effort goes into running a challenge.

Their current theme is
Make 6 inchies out of your received Christmas cards.
I had a card which imediately sprang to mind as did
Simples!

I have shared a link above on how to make.
Thank goodness The Doc likes his Custard Tarts
as he keeps me supplied with the empty boxes which
just happen to be in this blue stripe cardboard.
Perfect for card making!
I have used a grey oblong card base slightly cut down.
Said cardboard and a navy pearl paper for the backing.
Both has been distressed around the edges.
I chose the part of the  old christmas card
that I wanted for the inchies
and cut them out  applying  glossy accents to each one
before adhering to a sheet of white card.
To make the tile effect even more prominent
I used my Scor-pal to make lines on the spaces inbetween.
The sentiment was the cut off  discarded part of the card.

I used the rest of the card on the inside
but left the picture whole and
just scored the inchies and marked with a pencil
to give the tile effect.

A close up of the tile effect
but it doesn't really show the glossy sheen on them
which is there IRL.
Hint and Tips.
1. Allow the glossy Accents to thoroughly dry overnight .
2. Number the tiles on the back before cutting out.
3. Make sure your base card is the right way up before adhering.

Ask me how I know these things!!!!!!

The image is a pre coloured topper by
'Little Claire 'from sheet LCD09.
Flowers were made using
Spellbinders  Delicate Asters HCD 726
Sentiment by Hero Arts.
Gems and flower brads from my stash.

Commissioned Card

My very first commissioned card!
A friend wanted a New Baby card
for a baby Girl due in February.
and this is the card I made for her.
I had these  'Jenny Ellory' papers in my stash
which also came with a page of accessories to use with them.
A Joy fold card sprang immediately to mind
as I wanted to do lots of layers.
Pink card and polka dot ribbon from my stash.

I backed  the stork tag onto a scrap of the pink card
and created a pocket to house it within the card.

Back of tag has been left blank to add
the baby's name when known and a short greeting.

I made a matching box for the card to go in
which I have never done before using my envelope maker
so this is my trying out a new shape for this post.
Pleased to say my friend loved the card and box.

Double Easel Card.

I have a Double Easel Card to show you today.
You can find the instructions for making
by Christina Griffiths here.

I went to a Spectrum Noir Pencil class
on Saturday and we were given
this image by Justinklined  'Daffodil Patch'
to colour in.
Tutition was by Nicky Hayden
who is on the Spectrum Noir Design team.

Never used colouring pencils before
so this was a first for me.
Needless to say I did not come away
empty handed and now have 3 boxes
of spanking new pencils to play with.
Hard to believe just by looking at the image
but we used 6 different shades of green
just to  colour the leaves in.
The jug was easy in comparison as it only took 3!.
I really enjoyed myself and am
already booked in for the next lesson.
Watch this space as it were!

It is week 2 of my Butterfly Challenge
The theme is Thankyou with your Butterfly.
Here is my inspiration for you.
Design paper is 'Home Grown' by Hot Off The Press
White card used to make card shape.
Yellow textured  card used to make the easel shapes.
I used spellbinders die  'Floral Ribbon Threader'
Sentiment is an Anitas Sticker in gold foil.
Side ways view showing the double easels.
Butterflies are by Dufex from my stash along
with the oddments of cream ribbon.

Close up of the flowers again.
